Week 9 was a slow week with everything winding down for the Xmas break – nothing much done.
Power & water are off to irrigation system – so keep fingers crossed for rain.
Last part of new concrete slab have not yet been completed as per schedule.
Gas line has been laid – yes we will have instantaneous gas hot water in new amenities.
Work is due to start again on January 17th, hopefully we will have the use of the amenities by the first scheduled games in April?
Well there’s 6 sleeps until Santa comes and the work on the extensions has progressed a bit further.
The main new section which includes the breezeway, referees rooms and new change rooms has now got most of the walls up to height.
Hopefully we will see a bit more done next week before the 3 week Xmas break.
Week 5 – Plumbers have been busy putting in pipes for extensions (some twice when louts removed them), which now give some idea of how big building will be once completed.
Week 4 – looked like little had been done – but work has been going on inside where concrete floors have been dug up to allow for new toilets etc, & decorative bricks that allowed ventilation were removed from external walls.
SWANSEA FOOTBALL CLUB GOING GREEN
Thanks to a grant from the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water NSW Swansea Football Club Inc is now set up to collect rain water which will be used to flush toilets and clean the amenities at Chapman Oval.
The project has now been completed and in the first two weeks of use a total of 22kl of town water was saved by using the collected rain water.
The savings should be even better when the tank has had a chance to fill completely and the planed extensions to the amenities are completed and the included public toilets have also been connected to the rain water tank.
Swansea Football Club Inc would like to thank Ross Bowmaker and Wayne Broadbent for their work in obtaining the grant and getting the project up and running.
You might get a shock when you drive past the Swansea Football Club home grounds now – That is if you had no idea that Chapman Oval was being redesigned and turning into a fabulous new sporting complex!
Visiting the park last week would have shown you mounds of earth where not so long ago we finished a terrific football season. The seagulls were having a great time playing ‘ dodgems’ withthe heavy machinery and all the while doing their scavanging among the freshly turned dirt finding tasty morsels for dinner. This is just the beginning of an exciting major reconstruction of our home turf.
With many , many more changes to come, be sure to check back in here for a pictorial update on the progress of the new home of Swansea Football Club .
