Well we have been in the building for a few weeks now.

A couple of minor things still need attention but on a whole mostly going alright.

It has taken me awhile but below are some photos of the finished building.

Canteen has been enlarged & modernized

The old change rooms have been enlarged & new showers & toilets included. They can be used as two rooms or opened up as one large room.

Two new change rooms have been add and they also can be one large room or two smaller rooms by use of the roller door. This give us a total of 4 change rooms.

The old existing building & new section have been joined buy incorporating a breezeway.

Off the breezeway there are two (that’s right 2) referees rooms.

The building has its own toilets for game days but there are two public toilets which cater for male & female and are wheel chair friendly.

That’s a brief look at the building, there are also a number of store rooms  etc. Please come and have a look we are sure you will be impressed.

Another week gone & now 1month behind.

Strange thing happened this weekend tiler worked Saturday & Sunday – a shame others hadn’t been doing the same might be closer to finishing.

Looks like all rendering has been done & internal finishing has commenced.

First weekend of games at home and no building – had porta-loos, thats something?

Thank you to all those that helped set up and make the day as good as it could be.

A meeting for all Coaches & Managers will be held on Thursday 28th of April, 6.30pm at the Swansea RSL.

All Coaches & Managers are required to attend.

Well we have been given updated finish date for the building – it is now due to be completed on the 17th June.

That’s right not a typo the 17th June.

If it keeps going at this rate it may be ready for end of season presentation day?

We don’t know what will happen with home games yet waiting for draw and then see what Council will come up with?

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL – hope you all have a great long weekend!

Academy News

Swansea FC intends to run 3 x Development Academy squads for its elite players in 2011. The format for the squads is still being determined but will generally involve:

  • A 20 player squad for 14 – 16 year old boys and 16 year old girls;
  • A 20 player squad for 12 & 13 year old boys and 12 – 14 year old girls; and
  • An emerging academy for 9 – 11 year old’s.

We have been fortunate to secure the services of Michael Cossgrove as the Academy Coach for the two senior squads. Michael comes highly recommended. In recent times Michael has:

  • Coached U16 and U19 NNSW Futsal teams;
  • Convenor and coach for Combined Independent High Schools representative sides at National titles;
  • Has run Development Academies for Independent Schools;
  • Coached U19 NBN league side; and
  • Coached U19 and A grade New FM side.

The Academy is additional training to the regular teams and is optional. The Academy has proven very popular in the past 2 seasons and has been highly sought after. The club will have further information on details and cost by the registration days. Players will be selected during the grading days.

Swansea Football Club has been accepted into the new ZONE PREMIER LEAGUE competition for 2011.

The competition will consist of 1st Grade – Open Age, Reserve Grade – Open Age and 23’s – Restricted to players 23 and under, with a maximum of 4 over age players.

Other teams in the competition are – Dudley-Redhead United FC, Kahibah FC, Mayfield United FC, Morissett United FC, New Lambton Eagles FC, Newcastle University Men’s FC, Thornton Park FC and Wallsend FC.

This is a great thing for Swansea FC and will also be great for the Swansea area in general.

More information soon – stay tuned.
